Following people on Instagram has become a habit.
A funny thing happened to me this week, I was waiting for a friend, killing time on my phone, and started tapping the follow button on a few accounts that looked interesting, nothing unusual, except that later that evening I couldn't remember a single one of them, that made me realize how different social media feels compared to a few years ago, back then, I followed people because I genuinely wanted to keep up with them, now it often happens in seconds while scrolling past content, while thinking about it, recently-followed and started wondering how many of my follows were based on real interest and how many were just impulsive clicks, maybe it's not a bad thing, but it definitely shows how quickly our attention moves online these days.

Nothing breaks your heart quite like watching your grandmother suddenly become secretive and pull away from the family, we noticed she was spending hours on her tablet with the screen tilted away, and we honestly feared she was falling prey to one of those awful romance scams that target older people, before making a scene or taking her device away, I decided to do some quiet checking to see what was actually happening, monitoring her account through recently-followed completely relieved our anxiety because she was simply connecting with a group of local knitters, they were secretly making warm blankets for the community shelter, and she just wanted to surprise us.
